THE THREE WISE MEN’S PARADE
Inspired by the renowned Christmas procession of Alcoi, València’s Christmas Parade – Cavalcada de Reis (Three Wise Men’s Parade)-, is held on January 5th, the Eve of Epiphany.

Over the past decade, demographic and cultural changes in the city of València have led to the emergence of new festivities and to the adaptation and import of others.
SAINT BLAISE
Saint Blaise (born in Armenia) was a physician well-known for his professional skill and his Christian virtues.
THE FISHERMEN’S HOLY WEEK
The Fishermen’s Holy Week (Setmana Santa Marinera) is a great celebration taking place in València’s maritime district, which includes the neighbourhoods of El Grau, El Cabanyal, and El Canyamelar.
STREET AND NEIGHBOURHOOD FESTES
València is a city with numerous streets and neighbourhood celebrations. Some district festes date back to former patron saint festivities in nearby villages that progressively merged into the city.
SAINT VINCENT FERRER AND EASTER
Saint Vincent is València’s Patron Saint (his relics, an arm, are guarded at the Col•legi Imperial dels Xiquets Orfes de Sant Vicent Ferrer).
MAY CROSSES
The legacy of the Christian celebration of the Holy Cross by the Church is on May 3rd and this holiday dates back to Roman times.
MARE DE DÉU DELS DESAMPARATS
The Mare de Déu dels Desemparats (Our Lady of the Abandoned) is the Patron Saint of València. Her celebrations are held on the second Sunday in May.
CHRIST OF SANT BULT
Legend has it that an image of Christ was found in 1238, its name coming from the Latin word vultus and probably linked to the Italian Saint Volto, from Lucca.
CORPUS CHRISTI
This is one of the most spectacular festes in the city, as it was considered the city’s most significant day for centuries.
SAINT JOHN’S NIGHT

VALENCIA’S GREAT FAIR
This event was first held in 1871. At the time, it was the beginning of the summer holiday, when many Valencians left for their vacation to then return in September.
SAINT CHRISTOPHER
The holiday of Saint Christopher dates back to July 9th 1391. Legend has it that a small image of the Saint was found buried in the city’s synagogue.

OUR LADY OF MOUNT CARMEL
The Brotherhood of Our Lady of Mount Carmel organises this festivity on July 16th, in the parish of the Holy Cross in El Carme neighbourhood.
THE BATTLE OF THE FLOWERS
One of the most representative events during the Great Fair is the traditional and century old Battle of the Flowers, with 2016 being the 125th anniversary (the first battle was held in 1891).
SANT MARCEL•LÍ AND PATRAIX
Both the districts of Sant Marcel•lí and Patraix have festivals to honour their patron, organised by the neighbours. These two neighbourhoods stand out in València for their participation and the number of visitors in the festive events.
OCTOBER 9th HOLIDAY
October 9th is the Day of the Valencian Community. The creation of the Christian Kingdom of València is celebrated. Many institutions have functions and acts intended to celebrate the collective identity of Valencians.
MOORS AND CHRISTIANS
On the official Day of the Valencian Community (October 9th), the Valencian Federation of Moors and Christians organise the Moors and Christians parades in València.
CHRISTMAS
València celebrates Christmas with multi-coloured lights in the streets and shops, and with decorations in different public places, Christmas carols, nativity scene exhibitions, Christmas trees, a Christmas market at Mercat de Colom and, above all, leisure activities for children including a circus.
