The festivities of La Punta are held during the last week in August and the first in September to honour Saint Michael the Archangel and the Immaculate Conception. A wide range of activities are prepared for the locals, including canut and truc championships, dominoes, popular snacks, regional dances, outdoor dinners, cooking competitions, and tasteful dishes of allipebre.
Horse pulling is a deep-rooted tradition. The farmers are very competitive, and they are determined to rediscover old traditions typical of the Horta (València’s farming land). On the main holiday, to celebrate the patron saints, a mass takes place followed by a procession headed by a traditional flower-decorated cart, paving the road for the night procession. The images of Saint Michael and the Virgin are carried by their followers along the streets before returning to the church. A fireworks display brings an end to the festivities.
