This fishing and farming village is very close to the Albufera. Its festes are held in mid-July to pay tribute to the Virgin of Mount Carmel.
The celebration committee, consisting of clavaris and clavariesses, organise the festa by decorating the streets and then officially presenting the Queen of the festivities and her court. It is the beginning of a series of festive activities which features drawing competitions, sports, and dinners. Paellas, a fancy dress contest, a parade, and piñatas and games for children are also part of the programme.
On July 16th, the Virgin’s Day, a fishermen’s procession carries the image of Mary on a boat on the coast of El Perellonet. Upon her arrival, followers receive her with a salute and fireworks. A service is held in the afternoon followed by a procession along flower-ornamented streets.
