Poble Nou

In the first fortnight in September, festivities in this town in the middle of the Horta pay tribute to their Patron, Saint Bernard. On the first Friday of the month, the image of the Saint is carried in procession to the sound of the tabal, the dolçaina and traditional songs. The image is taken to the clavari major’s home.

A cycling race takes place on Saturday in the countryside, and there is also a parade with participants in fancy dresses who throw sweets to children. In the evening, a dinner is prepared. Sunday is the highlight. The image of the Saint is taken from the house of the clavari major to church, where a solemn mass is read before they have a mascletà and paella. The procession takes place in the evening, and the festes come to an end with a fireworks display.
