Saint Francis of Paola is the patron saint of this large Valencian town, and festivities are held in his honour in the first week of September. The clavaris are responsible for the festive programme, which includes parades and recreational activities for children such as racing, snacks, and games in the town centre. The liturgical acts include the Calvary Day on the first Friday of September. The image of the virgin is also transferred, and a high mass and a solemn procession take place.
Benimàmet has another patron saint, the protector of animals Saint Anthony the Abbot. All the neighbours take their pets to the blessing.
The falles commission of Les Carolines, west of València, celebrates Saint Joseph at the end of July. Its festival appoints a Lady Queen and a Child Queen with their respective courts. Parades, paella competitions, popular meals, and night parties are held during the festivity weeks, as well as religious events like a procession with the Saint, a floral offering to the Mare de Déu dels Desemparats, and a high mass.
